PHILOSOPHY
The Sacred Window— why it matters
In the first weeks after birth, a woman is a newborn mother and she is stepping into a role she will carry for the rest of her life. This tender threshold deserves to be held with love, patience and gentle care.
Ayurveda teaches that the forty-two days after birth lay the foundation for the next forty-two years of a mother's health and well being.
With intentional support, mothers can do more than simply survive their postpartum window - they can truly thrive. Through nourishment, rest, and loving presence, they are not only restored physically, but also become more grounded, more regulated, and more fully present with their children.
Care in this time is not indulgence. It is a gift that fosters a healthier, more balanced family, and ultimately, a better world.

ABOUT LESLEE
I tend to mothers within the Sacred Window
I am Leslee Carlson, founder of The Hallow, a space of deep care and restoration for mothers in the weeks after birth.
I've always found myself drawn to women as they become mothers, and at this stage of my life, it feels natural to support new mothers during such a tender time, offering the care, wisdom, and presence that have been shaped by my own life experience.
My work is rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom and shaped by a lifelong weaving of creative arts, teaching, service, and tending the land, while raising my own five children. Threaded through it all has been a deep devotion and trust in the intelligence of the natural world.
“Bringing postpartum care and Ayurveda together feels like coming home — work that resonates through my whole being.”
As I began to learn about Ayurveda it gave language to what I had long understood through lived experience. Its emphasis on nourishment, balance, and living in alignment with nature deeply resonated with me, reflecting and clarifying my understanding of healing, nourishment, and how we need to care for one another.
I am currently deepening my study of Conscious Postpartum Caregiving and Ayurveda at The Center for Sacred Window Studies.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Things mothers ask
-
Ayurveda is an ancient tradition of healing that teaches us how to live in harmony with nature and support the body's innate capacity to heal. It recognizes that after birth, mothers need warmth, nourishment, rest, and steady care to recover well. These timeless principles guide how I help mothers prepare for and experience a deeply supported postpartum.
-
Postpartum care is intentional support for a mother’s body, mind, and spirit during the Sacred Window. It provides the nourishment, rest, and care needed as a woman recovers physically, adjusts emotionally, and transitions into her new identity as a mother.
Rooted in Ayurveda, I believe this time is far more than recovery—it is an important threshold that lays the foundation for a woman’s long-term health and wellbeing. The wisdom of Ayurveda reminds us: 42 days for 42 years. The care a mother receives during this foundational time can shape how she feels, heals, and moves through the years of motherhood ahead.

I recommend scheduling a call with me in your second or early third trimester so we have time to get to know one another and to create a thoughtful plan for your Sacred Window before your baby arrives.
