PHILOSOPHY

The Sacred Window— why it matters

In the first weeks after birth, a woman is a newborn mother and she is stepping into a role she will carry for the rest of her life. This tender threshold deserves to be held with love, patience and gentle care.

Ayurveda teaches that the forty-two days after birth lay the foundation for the next forty-two years of a mother's health and well being.

With intentional support, mothers can do more than simply survive their postpartum window - they can truly thrive. Through nourishment, rest, and loving presence, they are not only restored physically, but also become more grounded, more regulated, and more fully present with their children.

Care in this time is not indulgence. It is a gift that fosters a healthier, more balanced family, and ultimately, a better world.

ABOUT LESLEE

I tend to mothers within the Sacred Window

I am Leslee Carlson, founder of The Hallow, a space of deep care and restoration for mothers in the weeks after birth.

I've always found myself drawn to women as they become mothers, and at this stage of my life, it feels natural to support new mothers during such a tender time, offering the care, wisdom, and presence that have been shaped by my own life experience.

My work is rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom and shaped by a lifelong weaving of creative arts, teaching, service, and tending the land, while raising my own five children. Threaded through it all has been a deep devotion and trust in the intelligence of the natural world.

“Bringing postpartum care and Ayurveda together feels like coming home — work that resonates through my whole being.”

As I began to learn about Ayurveda it gave language to what I had long understood through lived experience. Its emphasis on nourishment, balance, and living in alignment with nature deeply resonated with me, reflecting and clarifying my understanding of healing, nourishment, and how we need to care for one another.

I am currently deepening my study of Conscious Postpartum Caregiving and Ayurveda at The Center for Sacred Window Studies.

WORDS FROM THE MOTHERS

From the women held

  • “Preparing for my second postpartum, I knew support wasn't optional - it was essential"

“Leslee brought that support to life in the most beautiful, tangible way. Her meals were nourishing in every sense: thoughtfully crafted to help my body heal, restore my milk supply, and gently awaken my digestion. Thanks to Leslee and my mom, I got to live inside a true postpartum bubble — rested, fed, and fully present with my baby. It was not just a smooth recovery; it was a genuinely golden season.”

    Sara - Seattle

  • "Your meal deliveries felt like the warmest nourishing hug."

The presentation was SO nourishing — I loved the different jars of food medicine, the recipe cards, the little jars of ghee and shatavari, the beautifully wrapped date cake. Basically every item you brought just made me feel so, so good. You are very good at this. My heart felt so touched by all that you brought me, and I felt your heart in all of it as well.
